On an imposing limestone cliff, within a natural park, there is a museum area (MAPS) and the Rifugio di Mare, a guesthouse with bar and restaurant, created following the conservative restoration of a disused military battery. Sleeping here and waking up surrounded by nature is an unforgettable emotion. 

They set themselves the objective of protecting nature and promoting sustainable and responsible tourism, through measures already implemented and in progress: 

• use of sustainable energy sources: the entire structure runs on solar panels and storage batteries 
• reduction of single-use plastic: from the beginning, they have not sold water in plastic bottles and are reducing all other types of single-use 
• promotion of local food, preferably from small niche businesses 
• support for sustainable mobility, through partnerships with companies that rent bikes for their guests 

With the First Mile project, they decided to test solutions to improve sustainability in the following areas:

  • Reduction of single-use plastic
  • Promotion of green mobility
